The images of both James and Togusa overlaid on one another results in some strange mixtures that make James uneasy, especially considering memories of his from his other life are here too. Are the images actually wrapped together into one mix? Is this image-Togusa watching image-James break another teammate's leg in the middle of a football game? Or kill a diplomat in front of his child? Or is this all just a trick of perspective?
Between the sight of Togusa in the images and the sound of his voice, James isn't too startled by the touch on his shoulder. He still tenses, though, and for a second he thinks to maybe block Togusa's sight of the machines and their displays out of shame. But it's not like there's anything left to hide, he's already put all his shame out on display. So he relaxes after a moment instead.
