The first one was close enough to strike--and Lucy snapped. Vectors slammed into the metal, shearing the cage door off of its hinges. The second cage didn't have a door--Lucy made one, bars and rivets popping away from each other. There was nothing in the cages now--and there wouldn't be again, if Lucy had her way.
The sound of crumpling, tearing metal echoed loudly in the abandoned building. The horned girl didn't notice the sound of scrabbling footsteps approaching, single-minded in her anger. There were more of them than the skitters of before. More--and louder.]
