Togusa slides the page closer, and the gold starts to spread on the ring. The stars are glowing white, but the gold is starting to leech off of their surfaces.

"Whoa."

When he brings them all the way together, the light and dark seem to cancel each other out. The ring's surface is covered with the gold..

..and then the golden ring duplicates itself.
