It took Derek about a week, but he was finally able to get his huge ass apartment looking decent and ready for a party. He had tried contacting people to invite them, and even put a post on the app asking people to RSVP, not that he got much of a response. Sorry, Kenta, Derek is throwing a party and he doesn't know who all is coming...

Derek set up his kitchen with drinks for all ages. There are both bottles of Butter Beer for the minors and Fire Whiskey for the over 21. There are also many home made finger sandwiches (come one he's English) and chips. There is plenty of seating to go around since he does have TWO FURNISHED LIVING ROOMS and two balconies that you can walk out on to see a great view of the city, specifically Tribunal Terrace. Don't mind the owl that periodically flies onto his perch on the balcony and eats a mouse or rat he's found. He's very friendly.

The cat on the other hand, will occasionally slink around but mainly stay out of the way. Please don't touch him or he will surely scratch you (unless your Kenta or Mariko).

Derek will be mingling with guests as they come in. Drink, have fun, listen and dance to the music, sing Karaoke (Derek has a Karaoke machine), and take your mind off the fact a bunch of people are missing and Retrospec is behind it!

A. Have You Tried the Butterbeer?

Derek will go around with bottles of Butter Beer and offer it to anyone who isn't drink something. Everyone must experience this fantastic drink from his memories. So perhaps you are one of the lucky people Derek nudges with his hand and offers a bottle to.

B. The Host Needs to Sit Down

Once the party is in full swing, Derek will take a seat on the couch and take a breather with a bottle of Fire Whiskey. He deserves it, moving and getting his apartment ready for the party, make all of those finger sandwiches, somehow getting his hands on all the drinks in time, he deserves to take a seat. He will gladly chat with people who talk to him and tell him he's thrown a great party.

C. Karaoke]

In true Derek fashion, Derek will of course go up to the machine and start flipping through the songs. He really hasn't used his karaoke machine since he got it for his birthday, so it's time to break it in?

Yogi turned when Derek came up to him, looking down at the bottle and taking it curiously. He usually wasn't much of a drinker - it's hard to do a handstand when you are hungover, let him tell you - but it did sound like a curious sort of drink.

"Is it made with butter?" he asked, turning the bottle about to look for an ingredients list. Did it even have a label?

I'm not sure really. It taste good though. Kind of like a really creamy cream soda with out the fizz. It's not alcoholic by the way, my other self drank this when he was a student.

[Despite being Derek's Kin, Al still hesitates to really go inside his new home, see his friends, his life. Al realizes that his life is starting to intertwine with Derek's, and that makes him nervous.]

And did it come with the Karaoke machine? or did you have to steal it off someone?

A. Drinks - clouds of another life
Butterbeer is interesting, but a little too weak for her tastes. Firewhiskey, however is for champs and as she nurses her first glass, Mariko looks to the finger sandwiches to see if anything catches her interest.

B. Balcony - wash across the sunlight
The fresh air is nice and seeing the city from this high up is actually pretty nice. Leaned on the railing, she watches the lights go by on the ground and contemplating things of late.

C. Hiding with the Cat - changing shape as they go by
Mariko isn't exactly and introvert, but recent events have been sapping her social skills pretty badly. So here she is, a little tipsy and petting the lovely if highly selective cat sitting in her lap.

[That last comment earns Al a slap to the back of his head.]

[Derek lets out a sigh. What is he going to do with this brat?]

You're sense of humor needs some work. I hope you don't talk to other people that way.

C. Hiding with the Cat

[At some point Derek is going to wonder where he cat is and will start looking for him. He finds him curled up on Mariko's laps in one of the two living rooms.]

There he is. Are you behaving for Mariko?

[Blaise meows and snuggles deeper into Mariko's lap.]

Mariko, I still can't believe he likes you. Know what he did the other day when Tatsuo was over? I think he was trying to troll Tatsuo and he literally climbed up Tatuo's arm and started messing with Tatuo's hair. Scared him right good. He wasn't sure if Blaise suddenly liked him, or he was just finding a new way to torture him... I think it was the latter.

"Oh, that's cool - a bit misleading on the name, but cool," Yogi sniffed before shrugged and taking a short sip of the drink, making an "oh" sound as the taste bubbled on his tongue.

"Well I can see why your other self drank it - it's pretty good!" he beamed. "Not sure why they would call it beer though. It tastes much better than beer."

You've never heard of ginger beer? That's also not alcoholic, yet it is called "beer." But yeah, Butter beer was fairly popular with the students I'm guessing. The pub in my memory was filled with them.

[Derek opens his own bottle and takes a swig.]

[He'll accept it, at any rate, though he doesn't move to drink right away.]

It's a good distraction, at any rate, from everything else that's going on.

[Derek nods in agreement.]

That's another reason I wanted to throw this. I needed a distraction. With all the NPC's missing and my little brat of a brother moving in with me, I needed a mental break. So, I appreciate you coming mate.

[Derek lets out a tired sigh.]

Yeah, I know. I've just been so... overwhelmed. Not only have I just moved, I have to take care of this... ugh... not here. Come here.

[Derek opens the door to the smaller balcony that didn't have any people on it and urges Cumore to follow him.]

[...Ah.]

Yes, of course.

[He'll follow easily enough, bringing the butterbeer with him because there's no sense in setting it down and wandering away from it, let's go...]

[As soon as Cumore is on the balcony, Derek closes the door and finally shows on his face, what he is actually feeling, fear.]

Alex, I don't know what to do with him? He's a 17 year old brat whose a kleptomaniac and I can't for the life of me get him to stop. He was stressing out my parents not long after they adopted him two years ago, and he's already tried to run away once. Thank GOD I was able to track his laptop and he didn't get far. And now he has to live with me because over my DEAD BODY am I going to allow him to live alone at my parents house when everyone else is missing! And I think he feels guilt about his birth mom dying and I REALLY don't know how to handle that. I feel like I'm living with a ticking time bomb that I'm going to have to either deal him breaking down crying again because I said something wrong or pick him up at the precinct and post his bail.

A) To Fire, or not to Fire?

[Butterbeer make Al feel happy and giddy, just what he needs to try to get his mind off things. Then taking a huge gulp of butter beer, and making sure Derek isn't looking, he goes up to a random person]

Love the Butterbeer, not sure if I would wanna touch the Fire whiskey though, sounds like it would just burn...

B) Drunk on happiness?

At one point maybe he's been hitting the butter beer a bit hard, and is completely taken up by the warm goodness in his heart, making him smile wide and generally chuckling quietly to himself, before face-planting...maybe on you, maybe your foot, or right on the floor beside you

[Mariko can't help but chuckle at the way Blaise snuggles in, looking to Derek as he talks about the mischief his cat has gotten into.]

He might like him a little, just not enough to avoid being weird at him. Most cats don't even got near people they don't like.

[Somehow the cat has twisted under himself trying to burrow in as Mariko strokes the fur at the top of his head.]
Maybe he was trying to help groom him...

I think it might be best to handle the immediate situation first, don't you...? Fixing behavioral problems, handling deep-seeded issues... That would be lovely, I'm sure, but certainly not ideal or necessarily possible for the time being. Just tend to the immediate situation of keeping him reasonably out of trouble for the duration.
