WHAT: Akira encounters the swamp witch and has to live with his regained memories. Of course he's going to get his name back. That stuff is super important!! If you want to plan anything specific, go ahead and contact me

prelude

[ Akira thought it would be fun to visit Bosuma with his boyfriend after the hard work they've done in the other areas. He didn't have the chance to check out the luscious forest before—seemed more like a jungle, to be honest. Either way, he was enjoying the sights for the most part until an unfortunate happening. They were exploring a bit, marking the trees when they need to, but they somehow got separated...

No matter how hard he tried to find his way back, he found himself going in circles. Frustrating, really, but he eventually he reached his destination. There was something missing. When he pulled up memories of what he was doing earlier, he couldn't seem to remember a single thing. Not who he came with, where this was, where he lived—his name. What was his name?

What was there to comfort him was a stone house, a woman that coaxed him forward, giving him a new name, and a proposal he couldn't refuse. Though distrusting, he knew he had little to lose aside from his life. She gave him a simple task, but mentioned the stakes are high. His new name? He heard it before.

JOKER
It was a code name from what memories retained, even if his actual name became a blur. The task itself is to trust and rely on someone. Vague. Annoying. Whatever. Well, time to head back. ]

forest

[ Akira can be found in the forest, trying to find his way back. Whether he walks normally, carving some trees or mushrooms to keep him from being lost, or even rolls straight in front of you and falls flat on his face. He still needs some assistance... While he has memories of Tokyo, he can't for the life of him maneuver through Bosuma or Recolle if he wanted to. Someone is technically waiting for him, whether he knows it or not. Anyone that even utters his name will find it impossible. He can't hear it, anyway.

Please lead him the right way before he somehow ends up deeper into the forest again. ]

[ Once escorted safely thanks to someone very shady, he's back in the city and on his mission to get this quest done. Finding someone to trust and rely is rather difficult when there are holes in his memories, but his phone should be the best place to start. He can also be found around places that he frequents, at least based on what he learns from his phone:
Catmosphere Cafe
Mochi House
Recolle University
Unstoppable
But it's likely to find him anywhere. If he has ever texted you, then you can expect him there at your workplace. Or he might even send you a text:

[Go to Bosuma, it'll be great. It's pretty there. Relaxing. A fun time with loved ones.

It's just left him worried and chewing on the inside of his cheek because of it, voice not coming out the way he wants it to; for some reason, he can't say Akira's name even if he tries, and it's the most distressing thing. He can't find his boyfriend. He's a little tired, a little hungry, and resting on the giant mushrooms loses their Wonderland novelty after a while.

During one of these rest periods, though, he spots Akira making his way through the trees and stumbles off the fungus in his eagerness to catch him, following him quietly for a minute just to make sure it's not some sort of hallucination (swamps are famous for that, he remembers, ghost lights and the like) before he tries to call out with Akira, nothing coming out. Frustrated, he shakes his head and waves a hand. Okay. Fine. Stupid forest.]

Hey! I'm glad to see you're alright. [Relieved, really, but he knows Akira can handle himself... for the most part] Um, you are alright, yes? The animals seem rather friendly here, but I'm always going to worry over you. These sorts of environments always have their dangers.

[This thread is taking place on 4/5! Thursday, just like promised. Akane rings Akira's doorbell with one hand and carries Digits cage in another. The bunny is just taking a nap because it's refusing any form of human interaction!! It knows what's up.

She'll wake him up later so it can play with Morrigan.

Is Akira going to open the door? ]

[ Here is the most untrustworthy, most unreliable senpai. But it's a senpai who's spent nearly an entire month in this forest, asleep for most of the time travelling from place to place, but aware enough of where major landmarks are because he'd help compile a map of the area. In fact, there's a map in his notebook tucked under his arm, trying to find a certain something.

It's here where he spots Akira, and upon making eye contact with him, shakes his head and motions with his free hand in some vague gesture that probably doesn't mean anything but he expects Akira to read his mind anyways. ]

of course! is something wrong, akira? do you need to talk to someone?

yeah, i lost my name and some other things in Bosuma. call me Ren for now.

mind lending a hand?

[ Like hell he's going to let every single person know he's suffering some amnesia. ]

[ Of course he can't hear his name—it can't be spoken at all, but he does sense that someone is close by. That voice. It's... It's actually unsettling. He has a handful of memories, actually a lot of them, so to hear a familiar voice not too long after having an amnesiac spell startles him. Eyes wide, he turns around to meet his boyfriend's gaze, even cracking a trademark smile like there's nothing wrong, but there's something off about it.

It only takes a millisecond for him to know who it is. This voice may be pleasant for now, but... ]

You're... [ The battle and that name is still crisp in his mind. ] Akechi.

[ And in his hand there's already a pistol, whisked out of thin air. It clicks to show that it's loaded, pointed straight at him. Akira has no intention of shooting, but he's looking out to himself. Akechi tried to kill him. Based on that memory, he tried to kill him more than once and threatened his group of friends. Still, he's ambivalent because of how it all ended. This emptiness is filled with the emotions from that time.

The mask falls; there's a look of pity, just a glimmer, some relief, but distrust and hostility is there. Akechi may have died for them, but they never had closure. Where do they stand? He can't take chances. He can't get his name back if he dies here. ]

It's nice to see that you're alive, but I don't have a Persona that blocks bullets.

[ While most people would open their door wide, Akira's still the type to open only a crack so he can peek outside to see who it is. Out of habit, the cats join to see who it is... Yes, there are actually two cats in this house: Katkat (calico) and Morrigan (tuxedo). The former is a lot more playful, already wrestling with Akira's ankle as he greets Akane. ]

Hey. Glad you didn't get lost.

[ Now he opens it up to let her in. Morrigan stares up at her, eyes gleaming, before meowing a hello. ]

[ Good thing for Minato that Akira is rather sharp, so he notices Minato a bit before the encounter from the corner of his eye. In the forest, you have to be on the tip of your toes, but he's controlled enough not to instantly assault his friend.

... Minato is a friend, right? He doesn't recognize him at all, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to gather some intel. He checked when he left the stone house that he has nothing of value except for a cellphone and that shouldn't warrant murder. Still those hand motions...

[ It isn't the usual warm greeting he gives Minato. It's a little distant, like they're strangers. ]

[ Another name he doesn't recognize, but says he's his friend. All right. This isn't the first time he's seen something blurred out, but he needs confirmation on this. ]

[What relief he had is immediately swept way by a chilly wind, freezing him to the spot as he furrows his brows but doesn't take a step closer. Goro had told Sena earlier that Akira could never kill someone and he thoroughly believes that, but he does know that anyone would protect themselves non-lethally. More than that, though, is the confusion that's swirling around his emotions: Akechi? That range of emotions across his boyfriend's face?

... Could this be like October again, except instead of something actively on the hunt for him it's the mark of one of his greatest regrets?]

Of course I'm alive... We were only separated for a little while. [... He would usually end that with Akira's name, but he still can't, and it's annoying.

Goro displays his palms, eyeing the pistol with some level of wariness but most of all concern and confusion.] Did you hit your head or something? Or is this-- is this some sort of joke?

yeah, because i can't even read my own name right now. i don't think people can say it, either.

I don't know how to give tips on that. I guess make good friends? The kind where you feel comfortable telling them anything.

[ Minato drops his hand once it's obvious that Akira is just going to ignore whatever message he was trying to send; it doesn't matter now that they've both spoken up. He squints a little at the detachment in Akira's voice-- it's something Minato does, but it's always weird hearing it from others. ]

Are you mad at me?

[ Is this one of those sls where you don't speak to somebody for two weeks and they want nothing to do with you ever again. ]

[ Good choice. A step closer would earn a warning shot. When empty palms are shown to him, he takes a moment to decide if that's enough to deem him harmless. The Third Eye kicks in, shedding some light. For the most part, he knows he can survive a shot from a raygun and a slice of a laser saber. ]

... So we went together? That's a surprise.

[ Gun gone, he strokes his chin and grants him freedom. His question really is went where? Where is here? He knows he lives in a house somewhere... Or is it that he lives in a coffee shop? Information is getting jumbled up, but he keeps his compose as he scrutinizes Goro's expressions. It's weird to feel some solace in the presence of your would-be murderer.

While the weapon is gone, his eyes keep a careful watch on him... There's a sigh, exhausted from the trip he can't remember. ]

Yes, this is a joke. I go around pointing my gun at random people in a dense forest like a psychopath. It's fun. You should try it.

[ It's all dry sarcasm. This isn't a joke. ]

[ Raising his eyebrows, he's a little confused by this encounter. Maybe they knew each other? Fiddling with his bangs, he tilts his head to one side as he gives Minato a good look. Maybe it'll help if he stares at him long enough. It would be godsend if this is someone he can trust, then he can be done with this dumb quest and finally remember his name.

[ At least, as far as he can remember. ]

[It's pretty natural, if you pass someone you know on campus, to wave, to say hello. It happens every day for Shuji, nothing out of the ordinary.]

[Except 'Akira' won't leave his lips, even if he still remembers the name, and that's pretty weird. So he stops to look at Akira properly, a much more concerned expression settling on his face.]

...This is going to sound kind of weird, but did something happen to you?

To be honest, it does feel a little far, even for you.

[And he relaxes once the gun is gone, at least physically. He's still so... Bewildered. Did Akira hit his head? It doesn't look like it, but. Maybe? They were split, it's possible something happened since this is clearly not a joke, and Retrospec did mention some of those odd storms.]

Why would it be a surprise? We came together to relax. You invited me. Don't you remember?

[ It is one of those social links, wow, Minato's never gotten the cold shoulder this bad before in his life and it kind of stings.

He huffs, making an attempt to transition that into a less obvious sigh, but it's still mostly a huff. ] If this is where I'm supposed to list out all the reasons you have to be mad at me, how do you want it? Bullet points, or skip to the apology?
