A giant metal bird bit into my shoulder.

[ . . . Which she knows sounds completely insane but that is what their lives are now. She says it somewhat sheepishly, unlocking her phone and going to the images to see - ah, right, she didn't have a photo of that bird, but she does have some others. ]
