A small part of Frederick's mind is thinking that when the chimera appears. However, primarily, he's thinking more about how to fight that thing. He's stepping to the side, and then pushing forward. He'd rather be the one in front here, and besides, the weapon he has out is one that's best suit to close combat fighting than distance.

"Get behind me!" he shouts. "I can keep them away from you."
