[ Normally, he'd like to place trust in the city that they know what they're doing, but rather than worry or concern whenever he attempts casual conversation with the shop's patrons about how dark it is outside today, he's only met with disinterest or the occasional brief excitement over what looks to be an eclipse. Already, he knows that the city wouldn't back them up, but he doesn't think pitting themselves against the city would help either. ]

Hmm... If they left the lights on all day and night for too long, the bulbs might overheat and blow out.

[ It's probably not the reason the city would give in response to Shinji's complaints, but it's a reason, and it might be a passable one. ]

I think they might listen if we offer possible solutions, though.
