santa is coming to town

[ The cat cafe staff have spent relentless hours deliberating over the limited edition Christmas menu all for naught, but they changed their process for the whole month. All hail aromatherapy! You'll be hit with the refreshing smell of fresh pine, peppermint, cookies if you lurk any deeper. Everyone's favorite carols are also playing... mixed in with carols sang by cats. You may curse the owner for this. They also have a cat music video for these carols on some of the flat screen TVs that would usually show menu items.

So Akira is at work dressed up as... Santa. Without the beard at least, but his outfit is rather extravagant for the occasion. Of course there's that small touch of cat ears attached to the hat. It wouldn't be Catmosphere Cafe without it! He's seated on a grand throne, decorated with snowflakes, ribbons, and presents around it. The cats aren't tearing it apart, either. Amazing. ]

[ Usually, he would ask someone he knows to join him, but... He feels a bit off as of late. It means that he'll be dragging some poor soul (or even call up random people) to join him on his quest. With taste being gone, this is one way to entertain himself when he's hungry.

If you even look at a restaurant momentarily with a spicy challenge, Akira is there with a flyer for it. ]

[ Akira definitely has been a victim of garlands, mistletoe bats, and slipping on ice like an idiot. Go ahead and and pick your choice! He's running away as fast as he can from two out of those three and, like his predecessor, will pretend to be dead if he slips on ice.

Also, for those that are around when he opens his present from the Retrospec Christmas tree, you'll notice he has been staring inside the box he opened...

For a long time. He remember reading the description as "a stone worth 100k yen" on his ticket, but... Uhm. ]

[ HIT ME. Akira's cat won't be joining him later in December due to the cold, but he's around the university and sometimes the most desolate of areas. Anyone may even catch him or a dragon in the forest. ]

At the very least, I could get my employees to go through this challenge as well. If I say I can do it, then they can do it. Motivation, in some way.

[ his nose is tingling. for a moment, he wonders if this is a warning signal? his eyes aren't watering yet, which is probably a good thing, but still... ]

[She makes an interested noise in answer to him, but really she's focused on the dragon instead, stepping close and gently stroking down the length of its forelock.]

her smile is strangely serene as she nods, entering the establishment and waiting to be seated at the table. there seems to be a lot of people trying the spicy challenge, but it seems that they're the only ones who ordered the mapu tofu.... ]

[Miles shakes his head in amusement. This guy really gets into the spirit. Nonetheless he gets down and begins rolling out some snow as well.]

A six or a seven should do. Enough to catch people's attention. But if we can go for a ten, I don't see why not.

[ Good thing Akira told him beforehand, because Daisuke sidesteps an incoming garland stretching out towards him and quickly steps on the end firmly so that it doesn't wiggle free. Doing this kind of thing still takes some time to get used to and he breathes out after the adrenaline starts to fade. ]

That was close! [ He says as he yanks at the closer garland that has Akira captive. Did it work now?? ]

[ The sad thing is that Akira doesn't doubt it. Some items just have magic properties, but he can't imagine having to buy it normally? With yen... Don't know what to say. He does know his other self buys realistic toys, but that's about it.

Akira doesn't dare touch the rock himself, but turns so Elliot can pick it up himself. It's... Well. It feels what it feels like. That doesn't mean it isn't imbued with power!!! (hint: it isn't.) ]

Thanks. I'm actually not much of an actor... But I've heard my poker face game is strong.

[ But he's embarrassed by the praise, so he rubs his neck sheepishly with a nervous smile. ]

You were pretty good, yourself.

Well my job is customer facing, and requires both of those!

[ Acting an a poker face, that is. The woman hums, getting up from her bended knee and taking up the box of nicities. ]

[ He just wants to hear embarrassing happenings as a couple, Liz... Though he's sure she doesn't think they're embarrassing. ]

... I miss Blade Bunner, too. [ It took him a while to get used to having the bunny around, but also more time to adjust when it disappeared. ] Would that be your Christmas wish?

That sounds like a good idea to me.

[ He's in it to make his little evil elf happy... Partners in crime ride and die together. ]

I have no idea what a good date is supposed to be.

I can't really bring him home since my dad is there. But he works here, and it'd be weird to take him to a place he works.

Maybe we'd go and play with the animal shelter cats?

Let's pause that thought for now.

[ Akira doesn't want to say that those employees might even quit? Worst case scenario they would die. ]

There's no rules about how we eat. If you brought a blender with you, you can make a wing shake.

[ That sounds so gross, but it's okay. Akira will start on the pile. His eyes sparkle once, enjoying the heat for a second...But smiles awkwardly. ]

... It's hot.

[ Kohryu closes its eyes, enjoying the gentle touch—or at least Akira thinks it is. The dragon's serpentine body stops weaving around the trees just for this moment. ]

Yeah... I wasn't expecting him to be my next, but he's elegant. Gentle, too.

[ Akira raises his hand and the dragon slowly swivels over, allowing him to run his fingers against its smooth scales. ]

[ They're seated by the window, allowing them to people watch if they want. Of course Akira isn't one to lean onto the glass. That's rude and it's cold. Before their server leaves, he tells them what they're planning to do.

Well, that's a funny look they got? Or is that... Terrified. ]

Is mapo tofu that spicy?

A ten it shall be.

[ A ten is meant to impress and Akira is ready to let Edgeworth take the spotlight and credit. Akira starts rolling snow over so they can start off with a base. Alongside him is a samurai... Doing the same.

They were not here earlier, but they're cooperating. ]

Want to go with ten feet tall? Might as well stick with the theme.

[ The garland are Not Happy. Even with Akira free, they try to entangle the both of them together. With a couple of extra swipes, he keeps an opening for them to escape. Taking Daisuke by the wrist, they're on the run!

From Christmas.

Except they slip on some ice and start slide alongside the sidewalk like they're sledding. ]

[Anything is possible!! And surely Akira isn't dumb enough to pay nearly 900 dollars for a stupid rock! So maybe there's something to it.

Elliot will pick up the rock carefully in his hands. There...doesn't seem to be any glow, like his quartz, but maybe it's well hidden. He takes a moment to concentrate, to try to draw the magic out of it like he does his own quartz....and yep, nothing happens.

He frowns a little and brings it up close to examine. As he looks at it, it looks familiar for a guy who spends a lot of time in the kitchen. It's a rock he's seen somewhere before...

Y-You know, I've heard sometimes, uh, things are better left a mystery.........

[Does he really want to tell his friend his other self was dumb enough to pay that much for rock salt? Does he? Not really]

[ ...They'd have to be in the same house long enough to have embarrassing happenings... but she does have something she'd consider embarrassing, probably... ]

Without a doubt. [ that and the ability to fly. ] What's yours?

[ so basically, sacrifices for the spicy food god. not a bad idea for the future. ]

A wing shake.

[ he swallows. it sounds disgusting, but least the sour taste in his mouth just thinking about it dies from being unable to sense it.

oh well. one wing down the hatch, eating it daintily and trying his best to keep his fingers as clean as possible. ]

Is it? [ he sets the gnawed wing down and licks his lip. ] Doesn't feel that bad---

[ and then it hits. ]

[He was about to protest that maybe doing a ten-foot snowman might be pushing it, but he notices that Akira is no longer alone with him. The shock of seeing a person - clad in a samurai costume, even - is enough to make him jump a little, and he halts in mid-roll.]

Who's that?

Huh?

[ Akira stops what he's doing to look back up at Edgeworth with a confused expression before turning to Yoshitsune. Right. Stroking his chin, he hums thoughtfully... How does he put this into words— ]

It's my friend.

[ Yoshitsune is polite and drops the pile of snow in his arms to give the stranger a deep bow. ]

Where...did he come from?

[Miles glances around. Surely if there was a guy in a samurai getup nearby, he would've noticed right away. Nonetheless, he bows in return.]

[She smiles as the dragon pulls away, looking completely peaceful. She associates Kohryu with Yu a lot, and seeing the dragon up close like this, she can feel a sense of his quiet support along with Akira's.]

I hope I get him eventually too. [A laugh.] Seth and Samael might give him a hard time, though.

[ shrugs ] Haven't tried it before.

[ she does lean on the glass window because the cold never bothered her anyway. ]

Did they ever mention what the prize is?

[ Daisuke could have easily avoided the ice, but Akira has him by the wrist.

They run together, they fall together.

They end up sliding into a pile of snow that someone just gathered because they're shoveling the snow off the streets. God, that's freaking cold even with the winter clothes on. As if on cue, some of those strange bats come to laugh at them. ]
