I: Turkey Eggs

[Yukiko knew, rationally, that turkeys laid eggs but she'd never really thought much about them. Which is why it came as something of a surprise when she came across one sitting on the sidewalk. Picking it up, she frowned and turned it over in her hands. It slipped and fell, as it was surprisingly slippery, cracking open and revealing a rolled up pair of blue socks.]

Huh! Weird! I wonder if they're all like that...

[then turning to whoever she was walking with...and spotting another egg resting at the mouth of an alley.]

Hey, look, another. Want to check it out?


II: Casa De Waffle

[The sudden appearance of a new restaurant was one thing she was fairly used to, but the appearance of a breakfast place? That was something else entirely. Hopping out of her van, Yukiko stopped and stared at the place.]

Do they really think that a waffle restaurant is a good disguise? I almost liked the foreboding office better.


III: At Freshens

[Yukiko's a fairly frequent customer at the supermarket, naturally, and she's generally pretty good about checking her recipes and getting what she needs. However today something is off. She's standing in the middle of an aisle, staring at a display of cranberry sauce, and seems to be sweating bullets. Her hands are shaking on her cart, and it rattles a little in her white-knuckled grip.

Maybe...come say something?]


IV: Closed to Minako

[With schoolwork settled, and things at home more or less in order, it was time for their day out. Hopping in the Mystery Wagon and rolling over to Minako's apartment, she heads up and gives a quick rap on the door. And then waits, of course. She's not a barbarian!]

[Minako opens the door and flashes her a quick smile.]

Hey, Yukiko! One sec, be right out.

[She goes to the couch, where Koromaru is flopped over the arm of it, looking sleepy.]

Bye Korochan! Be back tomorrow.

[The puppy gets a big kiss and then she picks up her overnight bag, closing the door behind her and locking it.]

Alright! Ready for our day of rest and relaxation.

Yukiko waits patiently and nods when the door shuts behind her friend.]

Good. I made us some stuff to eat in addition to whatever we order. Snacks.

[Starting towards the car, she flashed a smile over her shoulder.]

Where did you want to start today?

[It's his turn to buy groceries...... which is fine, he doesn't mind it, it's kind of relaxing in its own way, it's just that he doesn't like the thought of having to go home with turkeys roaming about. They might jump him for his stuffing. Maybe he could just capture one and prepare it for Thanksgiving.

It's hard to ignore the fact that a friend is in his line of vision, but at the same time he's a little uncertain about what's going on and why she's so rattled. He doesn't have a cart of his own but there's a basket on his arm as he approaches, staring at the cranberry sauce display, too, before glancing at her.]

Yeah. I would be terrified to know what's actually in that sauce, too.

[She's completely forgotten Yukiko's recent difficulties with her cooking...]

Hmm. How do you feel about doing a little bit of shopping? I recently got invited to a wedding as a maid of honor and I need to look for a dress asap.

[Yukiko stares at the pile of Thankgiving food for a long, long moment before she shakes her head and seems to realize Goro is there for the first time. She blanches visibly and draws herself up straighter, turning her full attention to him only after consciously making an effort to loosen her deathgrip on the cart.]

[He hesitates, then shakes his head and speaks firmer.]

[It's the one thing that Akira was pretty firm about after the last gathering. They're all allies, his social circle has grown, they're... people he can rely on and ask the same of. If Yukiko doesn't want to, he won't press farther, but he'll give it a shot.]

[It's a gentle correction, but a correction all the same. She draws herself up squarely, closes her eyes...and spits out the truth after a moment.]

My other self can't cook. And I've always defined myself by my ability to cook. I'm afraid she'll come out, and ruin Thanksgiving dinner.

[Well. He knows a thing or two about that fear, except it's more in the direction of ruining his relationships over dinner.

... Even if the Phantom Thieves here were to accept him again, would the rest of the Persona users? No, he'll be anxious about that when he returns home, for now he's gonna help settle Yukiko's worries.]

If you're worried about her, then isn't it logical to have someone keep a check on you? Though I do doubt she'll make an appearance... having a level of precaution may aid you in keeping off a self-fulfilling prophecy.

It's just, um, an idea though. And having someone cook with you is always fun. I think it improves the taste.

Then what are we staring at it for, Yukiko? [The tone's light and he's just going to tilt his head. It's a casual way of asking if she's okay and seeing what's up, but he's not pushing either way yet.]

Honestly, I don't think any of my friends believe me when I say that my other self is a bad cook.

[She's taken stock of reactions by now, and most of them had just seemed incredulous, and reminded her that she'd done fine for years. What could have changed it? Nothing, they said.]

And they haven't seen what I have.

[She grimaces, looking down at her hands sullenly.]

I can't really ask someone to stand around and monitor my cooking though. Nobody I know has ever made the stuff I do for thanksgiving. I taught myself...

[She frowns at the display still, working her jaw silently.]

Other me is a terrible cook. I...don't want to think how badly she'd screw up Thanksgiving.

[He tilts his head, glancing at the display again before glancing at Yukiko once more.]

That would be pretty scary, you're right. But you're not a bad cook here, are you?

[She glowers down at her cart.]

Lately I've had trouble though. I screwed up some stuff and nothing comes out quite right on the first try. Even stuff I've cooked for years.

You really think that has to do with how the old you wasn't a great cook? [He slips his hands into his pockets and gives her another appraising look.] I don't think it hurts to keep trying. Everybody has a bad day or two.

[Minako slides into the passenger's seat of the Wagon once they get there, tossing her overnight bag into the backseat.]

Hmm, let's try a specialty shop first, see what the prices are like! The only other requirements is that it has to be any combination of blue, white, or gold.

Um. I mean, I have a friend that forgot how to speak English because of memories. And hell, I learned how to dance and play the saxophone because of them. Why not remember bad cooking?

Everyone keeps saying that but I still have no idea who that actually is. [He knows Anya but doesn't know that this is a thing that happened or could happen to potentially multiple people.] And I didn't know that was how you learned. Dave told me you could though.

[Hm.] Maybe that is true then. At least the good thing is that when you're bad at something you can improve...I think. Maybe not with cranberry sauce though.

Yeah I remembered learning to dance with Dave in a nightmare actually. That was damn weird.

And yes I think so, but isn't it a bad time to be stuck not able to cook?

Casa De Waffles

[Eleanor slid out of the other side of the van, frowning at the space where the Retrospec building had been. Where the waffle place was now. Because a giant office building turning into a waffle restaurant was how the world worked now.]

[This was their life now.]

I... [Hm. After a few thoughtful seconds she actually laughed.]

Not sure which I prefer. I mean, the office building made more sense but...this place might have good waffles?

[She stuffs her keys into her pocket and grins.]

Not sure! That's just the color scheme they wanted the wedding to be in, so if the boys want blue, white, and gold, then that's what they get. [She looks thoughtful.] I'll send them lots of pictures, though, see if they approve of what we find today...and send them to the best man, too, it'd be bad to clash with him on the big day.
