[Closed] The Tango Balthier
WHO: Elliot & Franklin
WHERE: Recollé Community Center
WHEN: This Weekend?
WHAT: Night at the Theater.
WARNINGS: Spoilers for a 30 year old play? Idk.
[Elliot had been pretty nervous about being asked out by someone he'd only recently met. He didn't exactly have much in the way of dating experience. An odd conversation with Eren a few hours before the date didn't help his nerves much either. But, like heck was he going to pass up a chance to see a musical performance.
So he dug up his only suit (which both luckily and depressingly he hadn't grown out of) and tried to make himself look as nice as possible. When Franklin came to pick him up (which wow, what a voice), he was just about ready to pass out from nerves. The ride to the theater was a blur, but he was pretty sure it was both the longest and shortest car ride he's ever been in.
But then the show started, and suddenly? All of Elliot's nerves were forgotten. All that mattered was the show and the music. Even though Elliot knew Rent's soundtrack backward and forwards? Nothing compared to seeing a live performance. He spent the entire play sitting on the edge of his seat, completely enthralled. The music, the passion of the performers, the stage direction- it was all incredible to Elliot.
It was when the curtain fell that Elliot scooted back in his chair, hands clutched over his heart. He sniffles a little, feeling tears streaks on his cheek from the finale. That was...a little embarrassing, but he was still on such a music high that it was hard for him to care.]
Ahhh, that was so beautiful...!

He's dressed quite nicely. Though journalism is hard, it does seem he's managed to make out for himself here. And the theater was always a welcome break from his investigation.]
I could find myself enjoying this more often. [he admits with a slight smile.]

[He glances over at Franklin. But you seem so classy man. Though it could be just the classy sounding voice.
It's probably the classy sounding voice. ]
no subject
Oh, is it my appearance that leads you to believe this would a common outing for me? Or, perhaps my voice?
[guess who is very aware of his vocal charms....... this guy]
no subject
Aha, maybe? I-it is a nice sounding voice! You could land any DJ job easily if you wanted...

Then, I suppose it's a shame that I have a publisher, and not a microphone. Still, I do prefer the liberties of the written word... while appreciating the vivacity of art given breath.
[ah yes, he's rather close because, well, this is a date]
no subject
Yeah, a real shame. But your written work is really good-! [Oh shoot. Wait. He freezes for a second as he tries to figure out if he was supposed to say that or not.
Oh well. ]
...Ahaha, I sorta did a couple google searches on you before tonight. Sorry.
[You know, see your dating profiles, your twitter, your criminal record -- normal stuff]

[Hmm, curious that he hasn't seemed to notice, actually. It'd be hard not to. He moves away a bit, just to test something.]
All you needed to do was ask. I'm quite open about my profession.
no subject
Oh I know. I was gonna ask-
[He gives a little sheepish shrug]
I-it's habit, sorry. My family really wanted me to be a cop. It wasn't for me, but I guess some of the habits stuck?
no subject
You're quite observant. After all, one with such love for the theater likely needs discerning taste. And you already know my foibles better than most of my romantic pursuits.
Though, it does seem you have a rather obvious blind spot.

????????????????????]
What's that?
no subject
[he leans in quite close, now. It'd be impossible to miss it, frankly. After all, this is a date.]
I see I can't settle for subtlety, which is rather curious given everything I said before is most certainly true.
no subject
Aha- oh, right. [He smiles. Franklin is just as handsome up close.] I-I'm pretty bad at that, I'll admit.
