Kurt (Spoil the ending of a movie)

[Okay so she felt kinda bad about this one, but Pen wasn't going to skip out on a bingo point just because she felt bad about it. There was always that one little theater that played old movies, and surely that wouldn't destroy her movie karma too badly, right? Well, okay, maybe it would but it'd be worth it. So the Adventures of Duke von MarchHausen it is.

Looking around for people sitting by themselves, Pen slips into the theater and spots a target. A guy that's not super tall and intimidating, looks to be around her age, and has a kind of chill vibe to him. Walking over she gestures to a seat a couple down from him.]

Hey man, are you saving that for anyone?

[It's not a bad seat either, so it's not that weird that she's asking, is it?]

[Kurt's been so hyped for this cult classic. He wonders if maybe he could get a remake made one day! Man, this movie theatre was a real find.

Kurt has a big bucket of popcorn that he's eating from as he's watching. He's a little surprised that someone's coming up to sit next to him, but he has no problem with it, and he responds with a chill nod.]

I was saving it for the air, but I think it's cool with letting you have it. [Kurt responds jokingly.]

[Slipping by, she settles in with a seat between them, her own popcorn ready, a small Icee held in her other hand.]

Thanks dude.

[Putting her feet up, she grins at the screen as the very, very old previews begin to roll.]

Ever seen this movie before? It's such a classic.

[digthefuzz]

[His eyes widen slightly in surprise as she puts her feet up. Wow, she must be a real rebel!]

Nope! [He rubs his hands together excitedly.] I'm so hyped for it... Oh man, have you seen it?

[mincingminuet]

[Yep. Total rebel. Absolutely.]

Yeah, I have. A dozen times at least. My mom used to play this for me when I was a kid.

[She leans forward a bit, and debates actually finding a different target, but this guy's too perfect.]

Barry Gillium is one of my favorite directors. I own all his movies.

[digthefuzz]

Whoa, you must be like a master! The duke of duke fans!

[He glances towards her excitedly.]

So you just had to see it again on the silver screen, huh? It must really be worthwhile, then!

[mincingminuet]

Something like that.

[Oh, this is just sad.]

I mean, it's a great movie and all. And the ending, where you find out the whole story is the Duke telling his friends a story? Man, what a fun twist.

[She's sorry dude :(]

[He nods vacantly for a moment before that last not really clicks in. His face quickly wrinkles into one of aghast shock, and he begins to feel that unique sinking dread that always accompanies a realization of spoilers.]

Wait... What??

[mincingminuet]

[There's no...mischief in Pen's eyes for once, and she flips over her bingo card, checking off one in the corner. Just to make it clear.]

Yeah. Sorry...I had this stupid bingo thing to spoil the ending of a movie. It's not actually a huge twist, it's kinda obvious by the second act, but still. Retrospec's sense of humor isn't all that funny.

[Apologetic smile...]

I'll spot your ticket for the next movie, a drink and popcorn to make it up to you? And help you with a bingo card if you have one.

[He does calm down as she speak. Now it all makes sense... and it doesn't sound like the most movie-ruining spoiler anyway. And he nods.]

Ah... I get it. It's cool! [He waves a hand in casual dismissive.] You don't have to get me anything, it's alright. I know how the bingo game rolls.

[But he does take out his phone and takes a moment to look over his own phone.]

But... There is one thing...

[mincingminuet]

[Oh, well that's good.  She'd brought a twenty for whoever her victim is, but if he's not taking it that's cool.

Now, he clearly has something on the brain, so she leans over...]

And what's that?

[digthefuzz]

[He doesn't feel bad enough about it to accept money for it, as nice as it is to imagine being compensated every time he's spoiled for something.

And this bingo square will have to do! Ignorant of the other people in the theater, Kurt shoots up to his feet, accidentally scattering popcorn around him, and he points directly at Penelo.]

I challenge you to a duel!

[mincingminuet]

What? A duel?

[She stands up and points right back, her other hand covering her chest in mock offense.]

I do declare sir, if it be a duel you wish, then a duel you shall have. Name your weapon!

[digthefuzz]

Of course it's a duel! You insulted my honor... and the duke's!!

[He says, hamming it up.]

We'll duel with... lawn flamingos! At dawn!

[Ushers start pouring into the theater.]

[mincingminuet]

[Laughing, she nods, and then sits back down heavily.]

Perhaps, but sit down and shush or you'll get thrown out.

We can take this outside after the movie, dude.

[digthefuzz]

[He notices the ushers and suddenly looks a lot meeker as he settles down into his chair.]

R-right... Sorry, got a little carried away there...

[The swat team of ushers stands at the edge of the ailes for a few tense moments. But then, like a pack of velociraptors, after a few moments without detecting any movements or sounds, they disperse into the darkness.]

[mincingminuet]

[At least they aren't calling his name...]

It's cool. Just enjoy.

[Offering her hand to him, she settles back in and grins.]

I'm Pen, by the way.

[digthefuzz]

Kurt. [He'll shake her hand!] Nice to meet you... in a really weird way.

[mincingminuet]

Yeah. Now sit back and enjoy eh?

[The movie should probably go uneventfully, even with the spoiler. She's right though, it's not a game-changing thing she's given away. The movie is completely and utterly ridiculous!

And when it's over and they're heading out the doors under the watchful stewardship of the ushers?]

Now, where were we...

[Kurt does still manages to enjoy the movie and has a lot of fun indeed!

He steps out of the theater and is winding down from a row of laughter when her question reminds him of what happened before.]

Oh... Right! Duel, insult to honor, flamingos, that kinda stuff!

[mincingminuet]

Just so. I think we're going to need to hit up Party Town or something for some tacky lawn flamingos.

[Which...well the challenge was made...]

Or was your bingo card just to challenge me?

Well... It was just to challenge! And as cool as it would be, I don't think my budget really has room for lawn flamingos...

[mincingminuet]

Fair enough.

[She sticks out a hand.]

Good to meet you. Glad you liked the movie.

[digthefuzz]

[He shakes her hand.]

Do you hit this place up often? It's like a gold mine of throwbacks!

[mincingminuet]

Oh yeah. Absolutely. Probably...twice a month.

[She points to her phone.]
