[OPEN] you know, like nya.
WHO: Yu & Souji Naurkami, Ardyn Izunia, and YOU!
WHERE: Ardyn's home. It's nice.
WHEN: March 20th, probably in the afternoon?
WHAT: IT’S THE TWINS' 18TH BIRTHDAY! What this means is that the twins are throwing a party for their cats, and Ardyn is throwing a party for the twins because he's the best uncle on the planet. There will just be tons and tons and tons of cats. This is a mingle log open to anyone!
NOTES: So the twins will have sent invitations to their friends to come to the "cats' birthday party," and also will have put up posters in various places in the city inviting people to attend. If you're not sure if the twins would've sent your character an invite, feel free to hit up me (
izanagis) or Ichi (
northpaws) on plurk or send us a PM!
WARNINGS: Cats. So Many Cats.
[ The twins hadn't really planned on having a party for themselves. They haven't even really told anyone it is their birthday. Despite the fact that they're both turning 18, and this occasion should probably be an important one, it hadn't felt like a big deal to them to have any kind of party. They were happy to keep things low key and simply get each other gifts.
However, that didn't mean they weren't going to do something. It just wasn't going to be for them, personally.
No, they decided to throw a party for their cats, Cream-san and Kohi-san.
So what ended up happening is this:
The party is now at Ardyn's house, because Ardyn loves his nephews and wanted them to have a Real, Actual Party. There are appropriately themed bouncy houses (one in the front yard, one in the back), some decorations, a cake, and also, party hats. The party hats are mandatory, they have cat ears, and if you don't wear one you will be politely escorted from the house.
Of course the twins' cats, as well as Ardyn's own, are in attendance as well, wandering around. They have their own small party hats.
The twins will be milling about greeting their guests, but you can go jump in the bouncy houses, partake of some of the cat-themed cake or other snacks, use some of the cats disposable cameras that are laying around (cats in every photo!), play some cat themed games, or otherwise just wonder what you've done with your life to end up here.
Have we mentioned this is the twins' 18th birthday party? Because it is. Enjoy! ]

Still. He's here.
Because he's a good friend.
That might be why that, of his gifts, there are definitely some that aren't really for the cats. Like a book of sheet music from the musical "Cats". And then some generic toy mouse because cats like that sort of thing, right? Right.
Yu may not need prompting, but Yosuke walks right up to him anyway and holds out his present, wrapped in a generic gift bag. ]
...Happy Birthday...cat.
[ Said to Kohi-san. ]
no subject
[ Warmly. ]
Kohi-san and Cream-san appreciate it. [ He'll set Kohi-san down - though not before dropping a quick kiss on his cat's head - before reaching out to take the gift. ]
Isn't it a nice party for them?
[ Is he joking? Is he being serious? Real questions. ]
no subject
[ Which may seem surprising considering the, er, creative theme being used, but. ]
I wouldn't miss--...your...cats' birthdays.
[ The implication, of course, is that he's pretty sure it's not really the cats. If it is, well, then he's just an overindulgent friend with some even stranger friends to appease. Yu and Souji will just get new gifts on their actual birthday. ]
Something about cat claws and a giant inflatable ballon don't seem to mix to me. If you're asking.

Yu's expression softens a little. ]
I wasn't very subtle about the date, was I? We didn't want to have a party. Izunia-san threw one for us anyway.
[ A beat, and: ]
You know, the material of the bouncy houses is very durable.

[ He gets wanting to keep things lowkey if you're not into the whole partying thing--although Yosuke himself would love to have a giant birthday party--but this is kind of the opposite of keeping it lowkey. Like, way the opposite. ]
Okay, sure, but...there aren't actually any cats in there, are there?
no subject
[ Easy as you please. It seemed like fun, so why not?
This is the opposite of lowkey, though. Normally Yu might feel much more apprehensive, but he's actually had a good time.
Yosuke gets a Look for that one. ]
Of course not. They could get hurt.
no subject
I should say I'm surprised, but I'm not that surprised.
[ The twins are definitely...unique. ]
What? It's a fair question! Everything is cat here and it's their party, right?

[ he starts, in some weird circular justification for the bouncy houses, but he's finally decided to take a peek into Yosuke's gift and stops mid-sentence. With an expression of some small wonder he tugs out the book of sheet music, hooking the bag it came in over his wrist so he can use both hands to open and flip through it. ]
... sheet music, [ he murmurs, with the absolute faintest of smiles. Everyone knows about his love of cats, but he keeps his music hobby very, very, very quiet. He hasn't even told Souji about it in much depth, aside from mentioning he's in music theory with Yosuke. But it's actually very near and dear to his heart, so to receive a gift of something he can practice on the piano is...
... nice. ]
Yosuke, thank you.

As with most things, Yu's reaction is subdued. Yes...it's...sheet music. That's okay, right? Did he do good? ]
No problem. [ That looks like a smile. ] Wasn't sure if you were into this show, but it seemed like a safe bet.
no subject
I've listened to it once or twice, but never seen it myself. It has some really beautiful pieces in it. [ His smile widens just a little as he thumbs through the score one more time before shutting it in and placing it back in the bag. ] I wish I had a keyboard. I'll have to find time to practice it at school.
no subject
Yeah, th--
[ Hold up. ]
--wait, what? You don't have a keyboard?
no subject
No, I don't. Why?
no subject
[ The very thought just sounds totally unacceptable for a guy who is, supposedly, into music. Playing music. Or something. ]
Okay, we've gotta hook you up with something. Relying on the school for instruments is like the biggest creativity killer.
[ He says as if he creates anything... ]
no subject
... I was thinking of saving up to buy one.
no subject
[ When he says it like that it seems easy. ]
...I guess that's easy for me to say when I'm still living with my parents.
no subject
... I'm still looking for another job to try and supplement our income. We do still pay rent. Still, I'm hopeful I'll find something soon, and after that I'll start saving up.
no subject
[ Er... ]
...That's also none of my business, huh?
[ He toes the ground awkwardly. ]
Anyway--sometimes I can get the scoop on some legit sales going on, so I'll let you know if I hear something.
